Description:

Flame Fighter® is a water-based flame retardant . It passes the NFPA 701 Small Scale Test (New York Fire Code) and the California Fire Code. It is non-toxic and non-hazardous…DOES NOT CONTAIN BROMINE.  It imparts a resistance to the spread of flame, as well as the duration of after flame and afterglow, all properties defining flame-proofing. It can be applied to most fabrics. Since it has a water base, care must be taken on fabrics that will not tolerate water. Flame Fighter® passes the two most stringent fire codes in the USA…The National Fire Protection Association Standard 701 Small Scale Test (New York Fire Code) and the California Fire Code.  Most flame proofed fabrics require one of these codes. Properly applied, Flame Fighter will meet these specifications. 

Instructions:  
  • Mix 1 part FLAME FIGHTER® to 2 parts of water
Exact treatment levels cannot be precisely recommended without first testing the fabric. Application rates will vary with types and constructions of fabrics, as well as previously applied finishes. We can only recommend starting points.

* The higher the polyester content, the more flame retardant needed.
 
Starting Points:
 
Spraying:
 
  • Mix 1 part FLAME FIGHTER® to 1 or 2 parts water(depending on the fabric).
  • Spay generouslyover entire area, being sure to cover the edges.
 
Dipping or Washing Machine Application:
 
For machine application:
  • Add this ratio to a low level on the machine
  • Run for 8-10 minutes, drain
  • Do not rinse.
  • Use a low extract
*FLAME FIGHTER® may be dried under normal conditions, It does not require a heat cure*
Testing:
Responsibility for flame retardancy performance lies with the applicator. The applicator must test and keep accurate records of his tests. Each treated item should be tested to assure compliance with state and local requirements.
